Q.

Is cycling between sometimes painfully low days and sometimes more peaceful / loving days a symptom of mediation (and / or Prana or even Kundalini movement)?

Answer.

Yes, it certainly is a symptom of meditation. And the feeling you experience is prana movement. Ups and downs are natural in this. As long as there are more highs than lows, you can be assured of progressing.

Q.

Does this sound like something else - depression for example?

Answer.

It’s not depression. Absolutely not.

Q.

Do you think the peace or sense of love felt on some days is real (and healthy) or a self-manufactured illusion (a bit unhealthy)?   (Should I avoid pursuing this sense of 'peace' / 'love'?)

Answer.

This peace and love is real. Do not dismiss it. Don’t be too rational, give free reign to the heart because it is the heart that will assist you in transcending the mortal limitations. This is bhakti. Prema or love is a spiritual word signifying soul’s natural and inherent attraction to God and consequent emotional expansion in an attempt to reach out to Him. Love or Prema is not just a word for emotional state in languages, it’s a spiritual concept.

Q.

I have a feeling that I would like to increase the capacity to have more 'peace'/'love' days (have them all the time if possible), thinking that this is God entering my life.  However, in view of the low days, I am now wondering if I am just chasing 'highs' and should not do that (i.e. because there will be an inevitable low) (?? Is this correct analogy or incorrect).

Answer.

You’re right. If pursuing of that love/ peace is going to make you miserable when you don’t have it, it’s best underplayed. But enjoy it when it comes. And wish for it too. And will it. And see if you can have it by mere willing, because it is actually possible!

The spiritual work is to be pursued at two levels--- spiritual which involves meditation/ chanting etc and psychological which involves making yourself open to the Divine, by practicing acceptance, surrender and positivity. Both are to be done together.

Q.

As previously asked, whether the occasional sense of 'peace'/'love' is real (and you kindly confirmed that it is real), do you know whether the low days (the sense of sadness / darkness / fear / abandonment) are also real?

Answer.

Yes, lows are also perceived but they are not original or true. Our being connected with the Divine (through prayer/ meditation/ awareness) is the high, separation from it, for whatever reason, is the low. But the low is a reminder, it’s an alert asking us to go back to Divine which is our true home. So it’s not bad, it’s a kind, beneficent watchdog telling us who we are not and should not be. We can go within and within and within and then we find that the inmost, which is the real us, is perpetually blissful. We are bliss-bodied, anandamaya. That’s not acquired state, that’s how we are essentially, but we wander out and lose that bliss.

We have many bodies also called sheaths. Outermost is gross and made of just food, it’s physical. As we go inwards we find mental layer, still inward is knowledge and wisdom layer and the inmost is blissful core, that’s most fundamental. All energy form is actually one of bliss, that’s where all our strength is coming from.

Q.

Is the lowness real or imaginary?

Answer.

As stated earlier, low is unreal and merely perceptual because our true nature is Anandamaya, blissful.

Q.

Is there any significance to lowness generally?  ... Is the lowness something to take notice of (be guided by)?  Or just something to disregard?  Something to just transcend as much as possible?

Answer.

It is something to be disregarded as a peripheral disturbance. When we go little deeper, we find it’s unreal.
