Setu of Aum & Inner Ramayana
“As you pursue the sadhana of Aum, there comes a day when it becomes
the path. The mind then becomes an ocean of which the sadhaka grows terribly
fearful. To cross this ocean, one needs to have refuge with Hanuman ji. He is
Pawan Putra, of the nature of praana, He is one who lays the bridge
for you to cross over the ocean. Praana and Omkar are bridged. Ravana
is like maya who abducts our mind (none other than Sita) as soon as it crosses
the boundary (Lakshman Rekha) of samyama created by Sri Ram. Ramayana
takes place within us in this manner. The first step to gain the grace of the Guru is
‘Aami Tomari’ (I am Yours). When you have successfully accomplished
atma samarpana, the surrendering of one’s self, the next step ‘Tumi Aamari’ (You are mine) happens.
Shunya
Q. Please tell us about shunya.
A:
Shunya cannot be explained, only experienced.
Are there some types of shunya?
There are three levels of shunya: shunya (the void),
atishunya (the great void) and mahashunya (the deepest void). These
are associated with the heart chakra, the throat chakra and the
mid-eyebrow chakra respectively.
Call of the Mother
“There was a child that clamoured for the mother. However, the mother being busy threw a
toy which enraptured the child. After some time, the baby began clamouring again. The
mother humoured the baby several times with different toys until the baby threw away the
toy as soon as it was given. The child really wanted to be picked up by the mother and
wouldn’t be distracted by toys. The evolution of the disciple occurs along the same
lines. The toys are the various worldly distractions. The mother is of course a symbol
of God.”
On Kundalini
Q. So much has been written about the Kundalini shakti and the
chakras which carry spiritual energy through our spinal column. But what is
this energy? This energy, it is claimed, is dormant and sleeping. How do we awaken it?
Let’s first look at where the Kundalini stays. Through the chakras,
muladhara in the bottom-most region to sahasrara at the crown of the
head, the spiritual energy courses upward. Actually, shakti which resides in
muladhara chakra rises up, naturally, to meet with Shiva in
sahasrara in the crown of the head. One can awaken this shakti through
Guru’s grace by following his precepts.
SKY & Mother Kundalini
Leaving specifics aside, the crux of the SKY practice is the joining of the
mantra ‘GURU’ to exhalation and inhalation. By exhaling ‘GU’ and
inhaling ‘RU’, one fills up the lota (pot) of human existence with the
ocean of divine light. ‘GU’ stands for darkness and ‘RU’ for light.
Such practice awakens the Kundalini.
Mother Kundalini does everything for the sadhaka or the practitioner, exactly
as would a mother in a household. The mother is the centre of the household. When she
wakes up and takes charge, all can be rest assured that the day’s routine would proceed
smoothly. When she, with practiced hand, cooks the vegetables, the household is
satiated. If she does not wake up due to illness, the family is put to much trouble and
has to put in extra efforts to make everything go smoothly.
Vitthal Maharaj sang Jaago, jaago jagatjanani taarini in
Vilas Khan Tori.
“This is to invoke Mother Kundalini,” he said. “This body is
navadvara puri, a city of nine gates. You have it in The
Bhagavad Gita. Gurudeva gave a mantra to invoke Mother
Kundalini – Sadanandamayi Ma, Karunamaya Guru! I added the
rest of it and made a song out of it. The tenth door is sushumna. It is
therefore called brahmarandhra. The word randhra means a hole –
Brahmarandhra is the hole through which the high souls escape from the body.
Through singing Naam and doing japa, the Kundalini Ma, who lies
beneath in the muladhara, can be awakened.
Later he started singing the song he had written in Omkareshwar:
Sadanandamayi Ma! Karunamaya Guro!
Shunya jeevana mero Karunaadhaara se bharo,
Anandadhaaraa se bharo... karuna karo!
