This article is dedicated to the teachings of the Timeless Master Mahayogi Baba Lokenath, who is my worship of the living Shiva, and whose tiny instrument I am. As one of the Great Ones, the Himalayan MahaYogi Baba Lokenath Brahmachari lived from 1730-1890. Baba Lokenath has not been widely known beyond the borders of West Bengal and Bangladesh, the region in which he publicly served humanity for the last 26 of his 160 years on Earth.  But his incredible life, the level of his mastery, his teachings, and the magnitude and depth of his compassion for all humanity are as relevant to us today as they were to those in his lifetime.   

Baba made astounding assurances in all of his promises to anyone who calls on him in a time of trouble.

Baba made incredible promises in his 160 years on earth and is a continual presence in the lives of millions, irrespective of religious affiliations, all over the world. Whoever seeks his blessings and saving grace at times of distress and misery, Baba is right there to be a true friend in need. His boundless compassion for each one of us can be experienced by just contemplating his picture and talking to him from our heart, like we do with our own father or mother, or someone close to us. Come let us all join together and feel his presence and know we are ever secure in His divine arms.

Baba Lokenath is the Divine Presence. He is in every atom of this universe. At the time of his Mahasamadhi on 2 June 1890, when the devotees were crying that he was leaving them, he gave his parting message, "Where can I go? I am in every atom of this universe; I will only shed this human cage, but will be available to you as I was during my physical manifestation. Whoever will seek my Grace will receive it then and there. For I am eternal, I am deathless."

As you read this article, meditate upon the form and the self-effulgent Light of Baba Lokenath, open your heart in prayer and ask him to make every body cell an open and absorbing receptor that gathers and resonates with the energy of the Divine Life he has become. Ask him to reveal that divinity as part of your own life. Feel his heart in your own heart.

To know Baba Lokenath, you need to know yourself. For Baba Lokenath is inseparable from your Divine Essence. As you melt in devotion to Baba, surrender without any expectation of miracles, but love him, for he alone is worthy of all the love of your heart; you will realize that his divine grace and infinite power are manifesting in you unasked.

What you need is the unwavering faith in your own self. In order to do that, you need to pin your faith on the real self and not the ego self. Baba Lokenath is your real self. When you give your heart and soul over to Baba's love and compassion, and his ancient sacred feet, you will find your inner glow and consciousness expand. You will gain back your lost faith in your own capacity. Yes, till you establish your own faith in yourself nothing positive will happen in your life. Baba Lokenath is ready to help you, but you need to take the first step to say, "Baba, with you on my side I will surmount every problem of life and reach the goal."

The day he came to me in 1976, he made me understand he is the very essence of my being. My life started to revolve around the sole awareness of his grace and his will in manifestation. You, too, deserve this enlightened consciousness, for you are as important to him as I am, or as the tiniest insect on earth.

Baba Lokenath's eternal promises will soothe your heart and strengthen your faith in the compassion of this incredible enlightened Master. Here are three of his Promises that he extends to all of us.
"No power on heaven or earth can damage the devotees who take shelter under me, for there is no one greater than I who can touch you." ~~Baba Lokenath Brahmachari
Thus spake Baba Lokenath, the god who walked the earth.

When the myth of individuality drops, the infinite Being asserts itself and flows like the eternal Ganges. That is what you and I can feel from the nectarine assurance of Baba for his children world over, irrespective of their faiths and beliefs.

Meditate upon his compassionate form, and affirm this assurance to your soul, saying Baba is taking care, nothing can go wrong, and in his protection all is well in life. Jai Shiva Lokenath!

"For those who with love and devotion surrender to me, if they are in trouble, my heart melts. This is my compassion. And with my compassion, my power flows out to them, freeing them from miseries and unhappiness" ~~ Baba Lokenath Brahmachari

"Love and devotion,” that is what Baba is asking for! He did not ask for penance in the mountains, renouncing life for a monastic order, but he asks you to connect to him through your love and through your devotion. Have you noticed when you are in deep trouble your prayers are filled with deepest emotion, tears, and yearning? Know that when that happens for God, the same thing happens in God's heart too. That is what Baba Lokenath is saying here, "my heart melts.” Yes, that is the only thing that you have to do, melt his heart. Then he is yours. You will be ever free of any fears or frailties. You will be filled with grace and gratitude, love and Light.

Just close your eyes now! Pause. Feel each word resonating in your inner world, affirm and reaffirm the reality that you are sheltered by God incarnate, Baba Lokenath, the living Shiva, who with such oceanic depth of compassion and love for his children assures us all that our surrender to his divine will can transform our lives. Every obstacle can become the very stone on which we can place our foot to rise to the next level. With him on our side we can become invincible powers on earth to usher in peace and wellness, for ourselves, and all of humanity.

Let us not talk as to what has gone wrong in our lives, let us talk about Baba's advent in our inner shrine, in our hearts.

“I am Eternal, Imperishable, ever Existent.” ~~ Baba Lokenath Brahmachari

Baba Lokenath spoke thus about the supreme state of his total identification with the Paramatman. His divinized body had few qualities of material phenomenon.

He once told a close devotee that he was living beyond the time of his destined life. “At this state, if I allow sleep to happen, this body will fall (die).” No one had ever seen him sleeping or close his eyes. At night he would lean back on the wooden plank you see in his picture for a few moments, and take rest in an awakened state.

Blessed we are to see his divine form, to take his holy name, and to trust in his eternal promises that he is taking care of us, that he loves us as we are. He is assuring us that if we could rise above our daily cravings, try to see the footprints of this great sage in the sanctum of our hearts, and follow them, we will for sure reach the state of a yogi, the one who is no longer afraid of the trifles and challenges of life with all its unpredictability.

Baba conquered sleep. He had non-blinking eyes. Even now he is looking toward you with non-blinking eyes of love and protection. Just trust in Baba Lokenath and surrender all that you are, in order to see the higher self within you which is inseparable from the light eternal that is Baba Lokenath!!
