THE NAME WILL IMPRINT ITSELF ON THY BLOOD
EXCERPTS FROM STREAMS OF NECTAR
Sri Sri Sitaramdas Omkarnath

V

Thou art ever eager with hopes of happiness.
But listen, mad man, a little happiness
Is no happiness. Thou knowest that all
Happiness on earth is mixed with pain.
Why be crazy to win such happiness?
A deep sea of happiness lies within thee,
Recite the Name of Rama and dive in that.
Thou wilt win the greatest joy and fearlessness
And be immersed in Supreme Bliss—I tell thee.
Recite, O mind, the Name, leave other things,
All sorrows will be shed, thou wilt be blessed.
There are just two syllables in Rama’s Name,
Not difficult to speak, it takes thee to Him.
Rama will come and appear before thee
And even as a man sees another man
So, without a doubt, thou wilt see Him.
Sing, ‘Victory to Rama,’ the Lord’s servant Sitaram!

VI

The primal substance of this world is joy.
Being born in joy, it abides in joy.
And again it will be immersed in joy.
There is only joy in the universe.
Alas! thou, luckless man, art deprived of that
Because of thy accumulated sins.
‘Chanting of the Name will wear out the sins.
Constant chants will make thee one with the Name.
The Name will imprint itself on thy blood,
Thy flesh, marrow, fat and bones. Fear will end.
In the body will bloom the lotus—Name!
It will shine pure, with all the desires gone.
The body spiritualised, thou wilt die at will.
Recite the Name, dear, recite it constantly.
Surely thou wilt gain what thou hopest for.
Sitaram, the Lord’s servant, pledges his word for this.
